Warming trend begins in Chicago with highs in the 90s by the weekend
CHICAGO (CBS) — Dry weather will continue tonight under high pressure, with light winds and lows of around 60 degrees in Chicago but in the 50s in the suburbs.
Friday is partly cloudy and comfortable, with highs in the low to mid-80s, which is normal for this time of year. A strong ridge of high pressure will build over the area this weekend into early next week, bringing a stretch of hot and humid conditions.
High temperatures will climb into the upper 80s Saturday, then low 90s Sunday.
The hottest day looks to be Monday as the center of the ridge moves overhead with highs in the mid-90s and heat indices above 100 degrees.
Overnight lows will only fall to around 70, providing little relief. A cold front will move through late Tuesday, ending the heat wave by mid-next week.
