Walter's Perspective: What Happens To Motorola Workers?
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The money boys on Wall Street were all a flutter Tuesday night about the big deal coming down between Google and Motorola Mobility.
For $12 billion in cash, Google is buying Motorola Mobility and the boys on the street and the managers of the media have been bananas about the news, page after page in the papers about patents and profits, and the millions that'll be made.
And the employees of Motorola? The 3,000 employees and their families are worried about their jobs.
One paragraph in the Chicago newspapers on Tuesday – one paragraph about the employees that says Google Motorola Mobility intends to maintain a presence in Libertyville.
And the CEO of Motorola Mobility, Sanjay Jha, what about him? No worries about his job. In the big deal coming down, Mr. Jha might walk away, personally, with $66 million.
Something wrong with that picture? You bet.
