Walter's Perspective: Jackson Jr. Watch Is Thankfully Quiet
CHICAGO (CBS) --Tonight is the first night in a long time that Jesse Jackson Jr. is not in the news, not on the front pages of the papers, not being ridiculed for avoiding reporters.
No hints in the news today that he may be faking being sick; no stories about him being investigated by the FBI or suspected of buying furniture with his campaign funds, or a watch for a girlfriend.
Not one headline today about Jesse being suspected of committing a crime, and his wife being suspected. No stories about Jesse hiring lawyers because maybe he'll be indicted and maybe tried in a criminal court and maybe found guilty and maybe go to prison.
I hope I'm not the only one who's thinking, "Enough already of the maybes."
Put a hold on the constant drumbeat of maybe this, maybe that. How about considering Jesse Jackson innocent until there's proof that he's guilty?
That's the American way, isn't it?
