Visitation Planned For Hit-And-Run Victim, 17
DES PLAINES, Ill. (CBS) - Visitation will be held Friday for a Des Plaines high school student killed by a hit-and-run accident last week.
Choice Taylor, 17, was walking along Algonquin Road near Third Avenue in Des Plaines on Nov. 5. He was somehow caught in the wheels of a semi-tractor, which was not towing a truck trailer at the time. Taylor was found lying in the street.
Witnesses indicated the truck pulled to the side of the road about 50 feet from the point of impact, and the driver exited to inspect it for damage. The driver then got back into the truck and drove away, and remains at large.
Police say the driver might not even know that he hit anyone.
Family and friends, as well as Taylor's classmates from Maine West High School, are expected to say their goodbyes Friday evening at the Good News Christian Center, at 815 Lee St. in Des Plaines. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Taylor's funeral will be held on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Taylor's family is offering $5,000 for information leading to the driver.
