View: New Cubs Ace Jon Lester Lands On Cover Of Sports Illustrated
(CBS) The Cubs haven't won a World Series since 1908, but they're receiving plenty of national attention.
New Cubs ace Jon Lester is gracing the national cover of Sports Illustrated this week, with a headline blaring "The Lester Factor." It's captioned with, "On Oct. 30, Vegas had the Cubs at 50 to 1 to win the 2015 World Series. After signing the big lefty, Chicago is sitting at 12 to 1."

Some Cubs fans may complain that SI's cover jinx may follow Lester, but that's of no concern for president of baseball operations Theo Epstein and Co. Their plan is beginning to come to fruition, with Lester signing a six-year, $155-million marking another "transition" in the process, Epstein said Monday at the introductory press conference.
"Jon is the perfect pitcher to lead our rotation for where we want to go," Epstein said. "And we get better in the clubhouse with Jon's character and his work ethic and his ability to perform at his best when the games matter the most."
