Video: Nate Schierholtz Starts Most Cubs-y Play Of All Time
(CBS) LOL, Cubs. LOL, Cubs indeed.
The Cubs and Padres are a combined 38 games out of first place in their respective divisions, and on Sunday, they forced their faithful fans to sit through 13 scoreless innings of baseball on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in San Diego.
But with the bases loaded in the top of the 13th, Nate Schierholtz gave the fans something to see by inducing the most Cubs-y play of all time.
Schierholtz hit a grounder to first, fell down and then was hit in the face by Jesus Guzman's throw home.
The bizarre play led to a run scored, and the Cubs tacked on another later in the inning for good measure.
But, since it's the Cubs we're talking about, the Padres came back and put up two runs in the bottom of the frame, before winning in the 15th inning because of course they did.
Ah, Chicago baseball, how sweet you are.
