Viciedo: 'I'm Ready' For Major Leagues
CHICAGO (WSCR) In terms of his offense, Dayan Viciedo was probably ready for the Major Leagues when he was called up for 38 games in 2010, but he still needed time to develop defensively.
Now, with a definitive future as an outfielder, he'll just have to wait for his opportunity to return to the Majors.
"I'm ready," Viciedo told MLB.com in a phone interview.
The 22-year old Cuban is hitting .313 with 10 homers, 45 RBIs in Triple-A, so there's not much left for him to prove in the farm system. Kenny Williams knows this, but they won't bring Viciedo up just to have him sit on the bench.
"It would be awfully interesting to have him in this lineup," Williams said. "He's ready. He's obviously got some things he still needs to work on, but I would have no qualms about bringing him here.
"I'm not going to bring him here to sit. Ozzie [Guillen] is not ready to change the mix he has right now, and that has to be respected."
The White Sox are 9-4 in their last 15 games.
