Veteran: Bank Giving Me Run-Around On Home Loan Program
GRAYSLAKE, Ill. (CBS) -- A disabled veteran from Grayslake is trying to take advantage of a state loan program for veterans to buy a home - but he says he's getting the run-around.
Gordon Kouba, 43, is a veteran of Operation Desert Storm. He spent four years in the Marines, and was disabled.
Now he wants to buy a home under a special state government loan program for veterans, but there have been delays, and unanswered phone calls.

Kouba says, at first, he was blaming the Illinois Housing Development Authority, because he says that's where his bank - Chase - was pointing the finger of blame.
But he says Chase is the one that dropped the ball.
"Two months I went through all their paperwork nightmare, just to find out they don't even do it; and then what really bothers me the most is that they weren't honest with me," Kouba said. "I don't know why they would say the whole problem is the state of Illinois when the problem was, they don't even offer this loan in the first place."
Kouba says Chase kept stringing him along, saying they'd help him with the loan program called Welcome Home Heroes.
And now? "Welcome home to no home for you," he said
