Very Mild Week Ahead For Chicago, Rainy Weekend Likely
CHICAGO (CBS) -- This is the kind of early December weather we could get used to.
The next week should be very mild for Chicago, with temperatures well above average all week, and possibly approaching record warmth this weekend.
Temperatures were expected to reach 48 on Monday, and conditions should get gradually warmer through the week, with temperatures expected to top out above 50 Tuesday through Saturday, when temperatures could even hit the low 60s.
The normal high temperature for this time of year in Chicago is 35 to 37 degrees, and it probably won't even get that cold at night this week, with overnight lows in the 40s every day.
Chicago could flirt with record warmth on Saturday if forecast models hold true. According to the National Weather Service, the high could be up to 64 degrees, which would top the Dec. 12 record of 61 set in 1877.
While the week will be unusually warm, it will have its share of rain, with sprinkles possible Wednesday morning. More showers arriving Friday night could increase in intensity on Saturday, with heavy rain and thunderstorms possible Saturday night, and into Sunday.
