Vernon Hills Man Indicted In Wife's Murder

WAUKEGAN, Ill. (CBS) -- A Vernon Hills man has been indicted by a grand jury, on charges that he killed his wife during a domestic dispute.

Ronald Stolberg, 47, has been indicated by a Lake County grand jury in the murder of his wife, Rachel Stolberg, 54.

If convicted, Stolberg faces 20 to 60 years in prison because he "forcibly held and restrained (his wife) on the ground with his body, thereby causing" her death, the indictment reads.

The incident occurred on June 7.

Initially, Stolberg first told investigators that he completed his shift at a Buffalo Grove electronics manufacturer and came home to find his wife Rachel dead. But police later concluded that he was responsible for her death.

Stolberg was angry that she had woken him up during the night, authorities allege. Lake County Coroner Artis Yancey said the woman died of asphyxiation.

Stolberg was in court earlier this week complaining about jail food. He is represented by defense attorneys William Hedrick and Kevin Rosner.

Stolberg remains in custody in lieu of $3 million bond. He is scheduled for arraignment July 5.
