Urlacher's Big Day Not Enough, But Proves His Importance
The book is finally closed on the 2010 Chicago Bears season. And while it's a disappointing end, it's a season that few saw coming.
After missing almost all of the 2009 season with a wrist injury, Brian Urlacher returned to his dominant form in 2010. And that was never more evident than in the NFC Championship loss to the Green Bay Packers.
The Pro-Bowl linebacker recorded 10 tackles, a sack and a a key interception in the Bears' 21-14 loss. Off of the stat sheet, Urlacher was as instrumental as he always is for a Bears' defense that yielded 14 points, for the game, and only 126 second-half yards. Making the defensive calls and alignments Urlacher lead the defense that kept the Bears in the game while the offense struggled.
Urlacher along with the addition of Julius Peppers made the 2010 Bears' defense a much improved group. For anyone that thought Urlacher's best years were behind him, the 2010 season and NFC title game should prove them wrong.
