Urlacher Named NFC Defensive Player Of The Week
(CBS) Bears middle linebacker Brian Urlacher was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week Wednesday.
Urlacher recorded 10 tackles, one tackle for loss, one interception and a fumble recovery he returned for a touchdown as the Bears beat the Falcons 30-12 in Week 1.
The interception was the 19th of Urlacher's career, which is a franchise record among Bears' linebackers.
Urlacher has been named NFC Defensive Player of the Week six times during his NFL career, which ties him with Hall of Fame defensive end Richard Dent for the most in Bears history.
The linebacker's status for Sunday's game against the Saints is in question after his mother unexpectedly passed away Monday at her home in Texas.
