Urlacher Hits Free Agency
(CBS) For the first time in his career, Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher is a free agent.
When the clock hit 3:00pm CT on Tuesday, Urlacher and the Bears had yet to reach an agreement, officially making Urlacher an unrestricted free agent.
Yahoo! Sports' Mike Silver cites a league source who said there doesn't seem to be any sense of urgency coming from the Bears' brass.
It appears the Bears are willing to let the 34-year-old linebacker test the free agent waters. Silver reports several teams contacted Urlacher during the three-day "legal tampering" window, but it appears Urlacher wants to stay in Chicago.
Urlacher, an eight-time Pro Bowler, was drafted by the Bears in 2000. He's played all 13 of his NFL season with the Bears.
