Uptown Shooting Leaves Man Critically Injured

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A shooting in the Uptown neighborhood in broad daylight Wednesday one person critically injured.
The shooting happened about 1 p.m. at Wilson Avenue and Sheridan Road, according to police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez.
The victim, a male whose age was not immediately known, was shot in the lower torso and taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition, Perez said.
Police did not immediately have additional details.
Neighbors heard between five and eight gunshots, according to the blog Uptown Update. The blog pointed out that the incident happened just a few hundred feet from Stewart Elementary School, 4245 N. Kenmore Ave., which would have been "full of little kids" at the time."
