Upgrades Planned For North Lake Shore Drive
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Slippin' on by on Lake Shore Drive might get a little smoother soon.
The Chicago Tribune's John Hilkevitch reported Monday that officials are looking to fix some problem intersections and interchanges on the Drive.
Among the planned reconfigurations are the expansion of the collector lane at Chicago Avenue, smoothing the S-curve at Oak Street, improving exit ramps that are close to bicycle path traffic, and easing the congestion at Belmont Avenue, CBS 2's Kris Habermehl reported.
The north end of Lake Shore Drive was the source of major frustration last month, when hundreds of cars became stuck in the northbound lanes during the blizzard of Feb. 2 and 3.
