Unlike Offense, Defense Is Pulling Its Weight
The Bears offense has been hogging nearly all of the headlines so far this season, and not for a good reason. They haven't been able to run the ball, protect Jay Cutler, Convert on third down, score from the one-yard line and now you can officially add turnover woes to the list of issues.

As much as the offense has struggled, the defense has been playing well enough to keep Bears in games. Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Tribune, joined Mully and Hanley and emphasized where the blame for Sunday's loss fell. "[That] was a game purely lost by Cutler and the offense," Biggs said.
With a healthy Brian Urlacher, the defense has looked more like what Bears fans are used to seeing. When you consider the fact that the offense has done little, if anything, to take pressure off the defense, their play seems more impressive. "I'd give the defense a decent amount of credit," Biggs said. "Especially when your consider how quickly it had to turn around and keep going back out on the field."
What made the defense so effective against the Redskins was the blitz, something they haven't showed a lot of in the past.
"That recognition of 'hey, we [aren't] getting [to the quarterback] with the front four, we're gonna mix it up,' gave the Redskins something [the Bears] haven't been showing on film lately," Biggs said. While the Bears we're only able to sack Donovan McNabb twice, D.J. Moore's interception for a touchdown came off of a blitz.
