United Flight Returns To O'Hare After Bird Strike
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A United airlines flight was forced to return to O'Hare International Airport shortly after takeoff Thursday afternoon, after striking one or more birds.
Federal Aviation Administration officials said United Flight 643 – bound for Portland, Ore. – hit one or more birds shortly after takeoff around 3:30 p.m.
The plane, a twin-jet Airbus A320, returned to O'Hare and landed safely. No one on board the plane was hurt.
The 134 passengers and five crew members were being moved to another plane to fly to Portland. The plane that hit the birds was being inspected for damage.
