United Flight Attendants Ratify Labor Agreement
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A new labor agreement has put United Airlines a step closer labor peace with all parties in the airline's merger with Continental Airlines.
As WBBM Newsradio's David Roe reports, the Association of Flight Attendants has ratified a new labor agreement with United, an interim step toward getting a joint deal to cover both United and Continental flight attendants.

The new deal includes job security protections and scheduling and compensation improvements, an immediate 10 percent wage increase and a $5,000 signing bonus, the Chicago Tribune reported.
The deal also requires United to return to the bargaining table no later than this summer for the single contract negotiations, the newspaper reported.
The new deal covers about 15,000 United flight attendants in the United States and at international bases, the Tribune reported. Flight attendants who had worked with Continental already had a separate agreement that was ratified in February of last year, the newspaper reported.
A total of 88.5 percent of all United flight attendants voted, and 70.4 cast ballots in support of the deal, the Tribune reported.
