Over 20,000 Unemployment Claims Filed In Illinois Last Week Amid COVID-19 Pandemic
CHICAGO (CBS)-- The Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) reported 20,460 new unemployment claims were filed during the week of June 21 in Illinois, a 12% decrease from the previous week.
That's a 12% decrease from the previous week when 23,317 people filed during the week of June 14 in Illinois.
Since the pandemic began, there have been more than 3.7 million total claims filed in the state.
Illinois' latest estimated claims are among 364,000 total filed across the country last week.
There were 27,812 new unemployment claims filed during the week of June 7 in Illinois.
