Uncle Fun Closes Doors For Good On Sunday

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Chicago store that supplied kitsch and smiles for 25 years is closing its doors for good Sunday, reports WBBM's Nancy Harty.

The name says it all: Uncle Fun, where you could find plenty of rubber chickens, whoopee cushions alongside really obscure lunchboxes and retro themed toys.

Uncle Fun himself, Ted Frankel, decided to amp up the last day in business excitement by giving away the remaining stock.

"Everything in the store is free so we have been passing out baskets and bags and people are having a good time and just taking whatever they want," said Frankel.

Frankel opened Uncle Fun on Belmont near Southport 25 years ago and before that he had a shop named 'Goodies' on Halsted for 13 years. He is moving to Baltimore where he has another shop but says of course he will miss Chicago.
