Women's Soccer Stars To Front Bank Of America Chicago Marathon Charity
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Three members of the storied U.S. women's soccer team will move from the field to the track this fall, to lead a charitable program for the Chicago Marathon.
The Bank of America Chicago Marathon announced last week that U.S. soccer stars Alex Morgan, Hope Solo ad Amy Wambach will be the spokeswomen for a charitable effort geared toward helping nonprofits help improve lives and communities, Marathon sponsor Bank of America said ina news release.
"The opportunity to partner with Bank of America and the Chicago Marathon is a thrill for us," Solo said in the release. "There's going to be such a tremendous spirit of camaraderie – from the public and private organizations working together to stage the event to all the athletes and their supporters pursuing a personal best or advancing a community cause. It's going to be a great weekend."
Details about the charitable program have yet to be announced, but Bank of America says the three soccer stars will provide more details this summer. The Marathon is set for Oct. 9.
