U.S. House passes bill creating active shooter alert system

CHICAGO (CBS)-- The U.S. House has passed a measure establishing an alert system for active shooter events. 

It would create an active shooter alert communications network similar to the "AMBER alert" system, used to track missing children. 

The House passed the bill late last night and it now heads to the Senate.
