Two Women Shot At Montrose Beach
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two women were shot Sunday evening at a popular lakefront park in the Uptown neighborhood.
CBS 2's Chris Martinez reports, according to witnesses, the women were on the athletic fields at Montrose Beach, just south of the Wilson Avenue exit ramp from Lake Shore Drive, when they were shot around 6 p.m.
Dozens of people were in the area when the shots rang out. Witnesses said the women clearly were targeted by the gunman.
One woman was shot in the shoulder. The other was shot in the arm.
Witnesses said they heard an argument about drugs just before the gunman threatened the women.
Davante Hall said the man walked to a nearby parking lot, then came back and shot both women.
"Everybody started running every which way; all through the gangway and everything," Hall said.
The women were taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, but their injuries were not considered life-threatening.
No one was in custody as of Sunday night.
