Two Women Hospitalized After Fire At CHA Building
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two women were injured during a fire at a CHA high-rise for seniors on the South Side on Saturday.
The fire broke out at about 10:30 a.m. at the Lincoln Perry apartments, a nine-story Chicago Housing Authority senior building at 3245 S. Prairie Av.
The fire was on the third floor of the building and was put out pretty quickly, according to the Chicago Fire Department.
A 52-year-old woman who lives at the building was taken to Mercy Hospital in serious condition, suffering from smoke inhalation. A 24-year-old woman, a security guard at the building, was also taken to Mercy Hospital, in good condition.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
