Two Women Attacked In Separate Arlington Heights Incidents
(CBS) – There have been two attacks in the last two weeks in Arlington Heights.
One happened Friday morning near Hintz Road and Haddow Avenue. The other, about a mile and a half away in Lake Arlington Park.
CBS 2's Suzanne Le Mignot reports.
Those living here near Hintz and Haddow are changing their routines, after a jogger was attacked there at 5:30 a.m.
"We walk. So I won't be walking early in the morning, at least for a while," resident Chris Dix says.
Police say as the woman was jogging a man wearing dark clothing grabbed her and forced her to the ground. As she was struggling with him, a Good Samaritan came to help. The suspect ran away.
"I haven't heard of anything like this," Dix, a 17-year resident, says.
Police say this is the second incident in two weeks involving a female jogger being attacked here in Arlington Heights. Police say the same man may be responsible.
At 6 a.m. on Sept. 26 a female jogger was beaten at Lake Arlington Park.
"I will walk this lake if there are people here, because I don't feel safe or secure if I'm out here by myself, at any hour," one woman tells Le Mignot.
Police want to remind everyone they should not run in secluded areas, at dark or alone and not to wear earphones. Police say they are following up on leads.
