Two Teens Charged In South Chicago Robberies, Rapes
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police have arrested two teenagers in connection with a pair of robberies and sexual assaults in the South Chicago neighborhood over the weekend.
CBS 2's Susanna Song reports the two suspects – both under the age of 18 – allegedly robbed women at gunpoint, then raped them.
Rasheed Hinton, 17, has been charged with two counts of aggravated robbery, and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault.
Another suspect also was charged as a juvenile.
Police said the first attack happened in the 8900 block of South Chicago Avenue just after midnight early Saturday. The second attack was around 9:45 p.m. Sunday, about a half mile away, in the 9000 block of South Exchange Avenue.
In both attacks, the victims were walking alone in the dark, when Hinton and the other boy robbed them at gunpoint, then took them to another location, and raped them.
The women's descriptions of their attackers helped police find Hinton and the suspect who was charged as a juvenile.
Hinton was due in bond court Tuesday afternoon.
