1 Dead, 9 Wounded In Shootings Overnight

(STMW) -- A man was killed and at least nine other people — including a retired Chicago police sergeant — were shot across Chicago since Monday night.
Just before 7 p.m., 36-year-old Chad Collins was shot in the 2300 block of East 75th Street, authorities said.
Collins, of Harvey, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 8:04 p.m., the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.
Police believe the shooting may have been gang-related.
The most recent non-fatal shooting occurred shortly after 3 a.m. on the city's Lower West Side. A 20-year-old man was shot in the leg in the 2100 block of West Cullerton Street, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in "stable" condition.
Earlier Tuesday morning, two men were shot in the Logan Square neighborhood on the Northwest Side. The men — 19 and 23 — told police they were in a car driving behind another vehicle about 1:05 a.m. in an alley in the 1900 block of North Rockwell Street, police said.
A person got out of the vehicle and fired shots at the car they were in before driving away, police said. The men then drove themselves to the Shakespeare District police station.
Both men were transported to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, police said. The 19-year-old was in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head while the 23-year-old was in "stable" condition with gunshot wounds to the arm and leg.
About 20 minutes earlier, a 26-year-old man was shot in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side. The 26-year-old man was sitting in a vehicle at a gas station at Kedzie and North avenues about 12:45 a.m. when a male suspect approached on foot and opened fire, police said.
The man suffered a graze wound to the back and drove himself to Norwegian-American Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, police said.
About 11:45 p.m. Monday, a retired police sergeant was shot and critically wounded during a robbery in his home on the Far South Side, police said.
The man, 73, was shot in the neck about 11:45 p.m. in his home near East 115th Street and South Avenue G, police said.
He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition, police said.
A man was shot about 10 p.m. in the 5700 block of South Artesian Avenue, police said. The man — whose age was not immediately known — was shot in the leg and taken to an area hospital, but his condition was not immediately known.
Two hours earlier, a 17-year-old girl was shot in the right leg in the 4900 block of North Lawndale Avenue, police said. She was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in fair-to-serious condition, according to Fire Media Affairs Chief Juan Hernandez.
About 7:40 p.m., an 18-year-old man was shot in the 8200 block of South Vernon Avenue, police said. He was taken to Christ Medical Center in serious condition, authorities said.
About 7:15 p.m., a 16-year-old boy was shot in the 9100 block of South Lowe Avenue, according to Hernandez. He was taken to Christ Medical Center in serious-to-critical condition.
No one is in custody for any of the shootings as area detectives investigate.
