Two Slain In Calumet Park
CALUMET PARK, Ill. (CBS) -- A man and a woman were shot and killed Saturday morning in south suburban Calumet Park.
Family and friends of 37-year-old Kariff Thomas and 21-year-old Nakisha Johnson said the couple was found early Saturday in the 12600 block of South Loomis Street.
Witnesses said the couple had attended a party Friday night, but left around 1:30 a.m. Saturday.
Two hours later, neighbors heard gunshots.
Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 7 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
An autopsy on Sunday determined they both died of gunshot wounds to the face.
"When is someone going to ever have answers to these senseless killings?" Kariff's cousin Kimberly Thomas said. "Someone die like every second, and only thing everyone could just tell parents is we're trying to work on it, they're trying … we're sorry about your loss. No, we want answers."
Calumet Park police were investigating, but would not discuss details of the shooting. No one was in custody as of Sunday afternoon.
