Two Shot Within Blocks Of Each Other In Greater Grand Crossing
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Police are investigating a pair of shootings that occurred blocks apart during a roughly one-hour time span early Wednesday in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood.
It was not immediately clear if the two shootings were related, police said. In one case the shooting victims was not cooperative with investigators, police said. In the other instance the victim provided vague details to officers.
In the most recent incident, a 25-year-old man was shot in the leg in the 7000 block of South Prairie Avenue about 2 a.m., police said.
The man was initially loaded into an ambulance, but then declined medical attention and left the aid vehicle, said police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro, describing the man as "uncooperative" with detectives investigating the shooting.
About four blocks away and just over an hour earlier a man near East 69th Street and South King Drive was shot in the head, police said.
The 42-year-old man told police he was sitting on a front porch when he "heard shots and realized he had been struck in the forehead," Alfaro said.
The man was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County. His condition was not immediately known.
No arrests have been made as Area South detectives were investigating.
