Man Charged With DUI After Crash Injures 2 Cops In Rogers Park

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A bartender from the North Side Andersonville neighborhood faces a handful of traffic offenses and a felony cannabis charge after a crash with a police car in the Rogers Park neighborhood Tuesday night that injured two officers.
The officers were in a squad car northbound in the 6900 block of North Sheridan Road about 7:22 p.m. responding to a call when a 1998 Toyota Camry turned left in front of them, News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.
The Toyota was turning onto eastbound Morse Avenue and hit the front end of the police vehicle, Alfaro said.
Both officers were taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston in good condition with non-life-threatening injuries, Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford said.
The driver of the Toyota, David Kreutz, 23, of the 1600 block of West Catalpa Avenue, remained at the scene, police said.
He was cited for failure to yield the right of way while making a left turn; driving without insurance; DUI-alcohol; DUI- drugs, and charged with one felony count of manufacture and delivery of cannabis, News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.
Kreutz, who is a bartender, had about 50 grams of cannabis on him, according to Mirabelli. Police did not have details on where he works.
He was expected to appear in court for a bond hearing Wednesday.
