Two Pawn Shop Employees Shot During Robbery
(CBS) -- A sour deal at a South Shore pawn shop leads to a shooting and robbery.
Now, two men who work at Cash 4 Gold are recovering from gunshot wounds.
CBS 2's Roseanne Tellez reports.
Police say the men, ages 49 and 29, were both shot in the leg and are in stable condition at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn after an apparent pawn store purchase gone bad.
Police were in and out of the Cash 4 Gold store on East 79th street gathering evidence Friday.
Police sources say two employees were behind bullet proof glass when a man tried to sell them an Xbox. As they opened the door to check it out, shots rang out, hitting each man in the leg.
One of the victims ran to a beauty shop next door.
Police sources say the suspect left the scene carrying a duffle bag with cash and gold.
The beauty shop owner says she'd like to see police walking the beat here.
Police tell us there is a surveillance camera in the store, but they aren't yet saying whether there's any footage the shootings.
