CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two South Side men were ordered held on $125,000 each Sunday, charged with robbing a Loop Walgreens on Saturday morning.
Judge James R. Brown ordered Nelson Beck and Alex Bland held on $125,000 each during a hearing Sunday, according to a Cook County Criminal Court clerk. Beck and Bland are scheduled to appear May 13 for a preliminary hearing, the clerk said.
Beck, 22, of the 7100 block of South Cyril Court, and Bland, 21, of the 800 block of East 67th Street, were both charged with one felony count of robbery, police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien said.
The pair are suspected of entering a Walgreens store in the 100 block of North Clark Street, placing items in their jackets and attempting to leave the store at 10:04 a.m. Saturday,O'Brien said.
The security door alarm sounded, and when the store security guard tried to stop them, one of the men punched the guard several times, O'Brien said. Both men then fled the store on foot but were apprehended a short time later. The security guard refused medical attention.
