CHICAGO (STMW) -- An 18-year-old woman has been issued a handful of traffic citations after she and two Chicago Police officers were injured in an accident in the South Side Grand Boulevard neighborhood early Saturday when she ran a red light.
About 1:40 a.m., a vehicle ran a red light and struck the police car at the intersection of 47th and LaSalle streets, police News Affairs Officer Ronald Gaines said.
One police officer was taken to Mercy Hospital with minor injuries for observation, Gaines said. Another officer was treated on the scene.
The driver of the other car, 18-year-old Diamonde McNeal, was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital with minor injuries, Gaines said.
McNeal, of the 700 block of West 50th Street, was charged with running a red light, negligent driving, driving without insurance, and a municipal violation for damage to city property.
McNeal is scheduled to appear in Traffic Court on December 5.
