Two Men Shot While Playing Basketball On Far South Side

CHICAGO (STMW) - Two men were shot Tuesday afternoon while they were playing basketball in the West Pullman area on the Far South Side.

About 4:20 p.m., two men, ages 22 and 23, were playing basketball on the 12100 block of South Parnell Avenue, police said.

They heard gunshots and felt pain, realizing that they had been shot,police said.

The 22-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the left leg, police said. He was taken to MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island in "stable" condition. The 23-year-old was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was also in "stable" condition, with a gunshot wound to the upper right leg.

The shooting occurred less than a mile from another shooting around the same time Tuesday afternoon; about 4:35 p.m. a man was shot in the leg while waiting for a bus at 119th and State streets.

No one was in custody as of about 8:30 p.m. Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
