Two Men Shot In Woodlawn
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two men were injured--one critically--in a shooting along a designated CPS Safe Passage route in the Woodlawn neighborhood Sunday night.
The two were standing on the sidewalk in the 6000 block of South Champlain Avenue about 10:40 p.m. when a black van drove by and opened fire on them, police said.
One man, 23, was shot in the face, left hip, right arm and abdomen. He was listed in critical condition at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County. The other man, 29, was shot in the right thigh, groin area and buttocks. He was also taken to Stroger Hospital in "stable" condition, police said.
The shooting occurred along a Safe Passage route, about a half mile northwest of John Fiske Elementary School.
No one was in custody as area detectives investigated.
