Two Men Arrested For Pair Of Bank Robberies
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two men responsible for a pair of north suburban bank robberies on the same day last week have been arrested, according to the FBI.
Jerrious Javonte Jackson, 22, faces one federal count of bank robbery and one count of attempted bank robbery; and 20-year-old Rei Quon Gaines faces one federal count of bank robbery, according to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court.
About 10:25 a.m. Nov. 21, one man entered the PNC Bank branch at 2900 N. Sheridan Rd. in Zion and tried to rob it, while another man waited outside, according to the complaint.
The robber jumped the counter and said, "Give me all your money," according to the complaint. He grabbed cash from the teller's unlocked drawer, then tried to jump back over the counter but dropped all the money. The suspects then ran away.
More than two hours later, a man entered the Fifth Third Bank branch at 240 Skokie Blvd. in Northbrook and robbed it of about $2,876, according to the complaint. As he ran away, he dropped a single dollar bill on the floor.
Authorities compared surveillance photos from both robberies and determined the robber was the same person.
On Nov. 15, five days before the robberies, a Texas Partners' Credit Union in Copperas Cove, Texas, was robbed, according to the complaint.
Eight days later, Jackson and Gaines were charged with the Texas robbery.
On Jackson's public Facebook page, a photo of someone holding up a fan of cash in front of his face was posted Nov. 16, according to the complaint. On Nov. 26, Jackson made it his profile picture.
Authorities also found a message on Jackson's Facebook Messenger app referencing the Northbrook robbery, according to the complaint.
Employees of the PNC Bank and the Fifth Third Bank identified Jackson as the robber in photo lineups, according to the complaint.
Gaines, of Evanston, was arrested Tuesday for the Texas robbery and admitted to driving the getaway car in the Northbrook robbery, according to the complaint. He had his initial court appearance Thursday in Chicago.
Jackson, of Mississippi, also had his initial appearance Thursday in his home state, according to the FBI.
