Two Killed In Austin Drive-By
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two men are dead following a Sunday afternoon drive-by shooting in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.
Andre Chatman, 23, and Carey Hollis, 28, were in a car traveling east in the 5800 block of West North Avenue about 3:45 p.m., when another vehicle pulled alongside and someone inside fired shots, striking both men, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.
The vehicle briefly continued east before crashing into a pole at Massasoit and North.
Chatham and Hollis, who both lived in the 1000 block of North Mayfield, were pronounced dead at the scene, the Cook County medical examiner's office said.
It was not immediately known if the crash played a role in either of the men's death, police said.
Autopsies were scheduled for Monday.
