Two Injured, One Critically, In Dan Ryan Crash
CHICAGO (STMW) - At least one lane of the Dan Ryan Expressway (I-90/94) was shut down and traffic slowed for about four hours Saturday morning following a collision between a car and a semi truck.
A man was seriously hurt and a woman was critically injured in the crash, state police said.
The crash happened at 5:08 a.m. on the southbound Dan Ryan Expressway when the car and semi struck each other at West 18th Street near the on ramp to the Stevenson Expressway (I-55), according to an Illinois State Police District Chicago trooper.
Both occupants of the car were entrapped inside the vehicle before emergency crews were able to free them from the wreckage, the trooper said.
The male driver was seriously injured and a female passenger was in critical condition, state police said. No one else was injured in the crash.
At least one lane of the southbound Dan Ryan Expressway was shut down for about four hours following the crash. All lanes were reopened to traffic about 9:15 a.m., a state trooper said.
