Two Injured In Pit Bull Attack In Elmhurst

ELMHURST (CBS) -- Two people were injured in a pit bull attack late Monday afternoon in Elmhurst.
Elmhurst Fire Chief Michael Kopp said ambulances took a man to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood and a woman to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital at about 5 p.m. Monday, after they were attacked by two pit bulls at a home in the 600 block of North Kenilworth Avenue.
Officials said the man and woman had apparently been dog-sitting when they were attacked.
One pit bull was struggling with Robert Moore, 63, on the front porch of the home, according to a news release from Elmhurst police. A second pit bull was in the front yard.
Officers shot a pit bull while coming to the aid of Moore, the release said. An officer attempted to subdue the other dog but the animal turned to attack other officers and was shot in self-defense.
Moore was taken in "stable" condition to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood with injuries to his legs and arms and, the release said. Patricia Koprowski, 70, was treated and released from Elmhurst Hospital after suffering a dog bite to her arm.
