Two Held In Fatal Drug-Related Shooting In Indiana
HAMMOND, Ind. (STMW) -- Authorities said they will likely file charges Wednesday in connection to a drug-related shooting Monday afternoon that left one teen dead and another man injured.
LaKice Brooks, 17, was shot in the head while inside a car parked near the Aldi, 7928 Indianapolis Blvd.
Police believe Brooks got into the Kia model car around 4:30 p.m. to conduct a marijuana transaction.
The men started arguing, a man in the front of the car pulled out a gun, and two shots were fired.
Brooks was hit and another man was hit in the leg.
The men dumped Brooks out of the car and fled the scene.
Police caught up to the men in the 800 block of May Street. They took off running from the car, but police caught and arrested them.
Brooks was pronounced dead at 5:24 p.m. at Community Hospital in Munster. The other man who was shot was treated at a local hospital.
Hammond Police Lt. Richard Hoyda said police were still working on the case and attempting to get statements from the two suspects, who are being held by police.
Their names had not been released.
