Two Dead, Two Wounded In Overnight Violence
CHICAGO (STMW) - Two people were killed and two were wounded in violence on the South and West sides overnight.
A 25-year-old man was found dead in an alley from head trauma in the 6000 block of South Morgan Street about 9:30 p.m. Friday after being assaulted by an unknown offender, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.
Jermaine Baskin, of the 900 block of West 51st St., was pronounced dead at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County at 10:26 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
The 23-year-old man was shot in the shoulder and knee in the 4400 block of South Wood St. about 5:29 a.m., police News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan said.
He was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County where he was pronounced dead, Sullivan said.
He had not been identified as of Saturday morning.
Two other men were wounded in early morning shootings.
A 19-year-old man was shot in the chest and armpit area about 1:30 a.m. in the 3400 block of West Jackson Street, police said. He walked into Advocate Bethany Hospital where he was in serious condition early Saturday.
And a 27-year-old man was shot at while in a car in the 7000 block of South Indiana Avenue about 1:40 a.m., police said. Someone approached the car on foot and shot into the car, shattering the window. He was either shot in the neck or possibly cut by a piece of glass.
He was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in "stable" condition.
No one is in custody in any of the shootings Saturday morning.
