Two Dead In Apparent Murder-Suicide In Mount Prospect
MT. PROSPECT, Ill. (STMW) -- The deaths of a 46-year-old man and 31-year-old woman, found dead at their home in northwest suburban Mount Prospect on Tuesday morning, have been ruled a murder-suicide.
July Diaz-Hernandez and Victariao Lopez-Rosales were found in a bathtub at the home in the 500 block of West Dempster Street about 8:30 a.m., authorities said.
Both apparently died from stab wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene at 8:53 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
Police said Diaz-Hernandez's death was ruled a homicide and Rosales' death was ruled a suicide by the medical examiner's office.
Diaz-Hernandez was stabbed to death, while Lopez-Rosales was found with a knife protruding from his chest, authorities said.
Police said the victims were involved in a relationship but it was not clear whether they were married.
The couple's two small children did not witness the incident and were unharmed, police said. They are being cared for by family members.
