Two Charged With River North Burglaries
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two people have been charged with burglary in connection with a spate of robberies this month in the River North neighborhood.
Stacey Yearby, 41, and Lamont Gordon, 46, were arrested Wednesday and charged with four counts of burglary each, according to police News Affairs. They gave their address in the 1400 block of South Canal Street.
Police confirmed the two were charged in connection with a series of burglaries Area Central detectives warned businesses of earlier this month.
The alert issued May 17 warned businesses of burglaries in the 400 block of North Wells Street, in the 0-100 block of East Superior Street, and the 300 block of West Hubbard Street. Four burglaries occurred in the 400 block of North Wells Street between 10 p.m. May 13 and 6:30 a.m. May 14, the alert said.
The suspects forced their way into retail and business locations by forcing open an outside door, then using a blunt instrument to break the glass on an inside entrance door, the alert said.
Lamont is being held in Cook County Jail on $150,000 bond and Yearby is being held on $50,000 bond. Both are next scheduled to appear in court May 29.
