Two Charged With Murder In Little Village Beating
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two alleged gang members have been charged with beating a man to death on a Little Village neighborhood street early Monday, while another man is awaiting charges, police said.
Mauricio Ortiz, 20, of the 2600 block of South Christiana Avenue and Adrian Garcia, 27, male of the 3000 block of S. St. Louis Avenue were both charged late Tuesday with one count each of first-degree murder, police said.
On Wednesday, Judge Israel Desierto set bond for Garcia at $600,000, while Ortiz was ordered held on $500,000 bond, Cook County State's Attorney's office spokeswoman Tandra Simonton said.
Garcia and Ortiz are suspected of being accomplices in the murder of Armando Corral, who was beaten at 1:05 a.m. in the 3000 block of South St. Louis Avenue, according to police.
A third suspect, a 40-year-old man, was arrested on Tuesday about 7 p.m. and charges had not yet been filed on Wednesday afternoon, police said.
Ortiz, Garcia and the third man in custody are all members of the Latin Kings, police said.
An autopsy Tuesday determined Corral, of 3022 S. Christiana Ave., died of abdominal bleeding from multiple injuries suffered in a beating, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. His death was ruled a homicide.
Corral was in his 50s was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital at 4:20 a.m. Monday, the medical examiner's office said.
