Two Boats Capsize In High Winds In Lake County
LAKE COUNTY, Ill. (CBS) -- With high winds moving into the Chicago area Thursday evening, Lake County Sheriff's police have reported two boats capsizing on two different lakes.
Around 5:30 p.m., a sailboat capsized on Gages Lake near north suburban Grayslake, according to Lake County Sheriff's Chief Wayne Hunter. The boater was rescued and brought to shore and no serious injuries were reported.
A short time later, another boat capsized on Lake Catherine near Antioch, Hunter said.
Crews were still on the scene as of 6:15 p.m., trying to rescue the boater, who was visible to rescue units. But high winds kept pushing the boater away from the shore, Hunter said.
