Two Blue Demons Earn Big East Honors
It's been a frustrating season for Oliver Purnell's DePaul Blue Demons. But Cleveland Melvin continues to breathe some life into the program.
For the fourth time this season Melvin has been named the Big East freshman of the week. He averaged 18 points and five rebounds as the Blue Demons went 1-1 over the week.
Melvin's 20 points and six boards helped the Blue Demons break their 24-game conference losing streak when they beat Providence 79-76, while on the road.
Guard Jeremiah Kelly was named to the conference's weekly honor roll. Kelly had consecutive games scoring a career high in points when he dropped 23 against Providence and then two nights later scored 25 in a loss to Villanova.
