Two Arrested For Robbery After Chase On Eisenhower
OAK PARK, Ill. (STMW) - A man and a woman are in custody Wednesday following an armed robbery and police chase that closed down all lanes of the westbound Eisenhower Expressway on Wednesday afternoon.
Details are not confirmed, but police dispatch reports indicated a purse was stolen and a motorist shot at shortly after 3:30 p.m. in the 600 block of Maple in west suburban Oak Park. There were no reports of any injuries.
The suspects fled in an older model gray compact car onto the westbound Eisenhower at Harlem, but quickly picked up a trail of squad cars from Oak Park and Forest Park.
The car was finally stopped against the center median just west of Des Plaines Avenue.
"It looked just like the OJ chase," said John White of Maywood, who watched from a CTA Blue Line Train as the suspect car sped by, followed by police.
"There were 14 cop cars," White said.
It is not clear how many victims are related to the incident, but a police dispatch stated one victim identified the male suspect during a "show up" on the expressway.
Another radio dispatch stated police had recovered bullet fragments from the shooting scene.
