Two Arrested After Robbing Cabbie With Sharp Object
HANOVER PARK, Ill. (STMW) - A man and a juvenile were charged with robbing a taxi driver in northwest suburban Hanover Park on Saturday.
Christopher Boyd, 18, of the 4500 block of Whitney Drive in Hanover Park, and a juvenile were each charged Sunday with one count of robbery of a taxi driver, according to a release from police.
At 12:20 p.m., Boyd and the juvenile allegedly rode in a taxi from Elgin to the area of Sandpiper Drive and East Harbor Park in Hanover Park. Upon arrival at 1 p.m., one of the offenders put an unknown type of sharp object to the neck of the driver and took an undisclosed amount of cash, according to the release.
Boyd and the juvenile then fled from the taxi on foot and the taxi driver, who was uninjured, was able to call 9-1-1. Investigators from the Hanover Park Police Department subsequently identified Boyd and the juvenile as suspects and both were located, according to the release.
The DuPage County State's Attorney's Office reviewed the incident and approved felony robbery charges against Boyd and the juvenile.
Boyd was subsequently transported to the DuPage County Jail and will appear in bond court Monday. The juvenile was also detained and he was transported to the DuPage County Youth Home, the release said.
