SOUTH HOLLAND, Ill. (CBS) - Lanes have reopened after a semi-truck crash on the Bishop Ford Freeway that sent a truck driver to an area hospital in critical condition Thursday afternoon near south suburban South Holland.
The one-vehicle crash happened at 12:33 p.m. on a ramp from the northbound Bishop Ford -- Interstate 94 -- that leads to eastbound 159th Street in South Holland, Illinois State Police District Chicago Master Sgt. S. Nowak said.
A semi-truck flat bed trailer which was hauling 4x8 sheets of steel was driving too fast on the ramp and rolled over, Nowak said.
The driver, a man, was extricated from the truck and was taken by Loyola Life Star to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition, Nowak said. A female passenger was treated on the scene.
No other vehicles were involved.
Northbound and southbound lanes were reopened less about 3 p.m., but the northbound ramp to 159th Street is still closed as of 4:15 p.m.
