Truck Spills 38,000 Pounds Of Steel On Dan Ryan
CHICAGO (CBS) - The Dan Ryan Expressway was back open in time for the morning rush, but it was a major mess overnight when a semi-trailer truck lost control and spilled its load of 38,000 pounds of steel.
The truck lost control around 12:35 a.m. Monday, and spilled the steel onto the northbound lanes of the Dan Ryan at 67th Street/Marquette Road, according to Illinois State Police District Chicago trooper Mark Hall.
The truck driver suffered minor injuries but was not taken to the hospital, Hall said.
The northbound lanes of the Dan Ryan Expressway were closed for cleanup, but had reopened by just after 6 a.m.
